The Sovereign Islands

Project: The Sovereign Islands
Location: Paradise Point, Gold Coast, Australia
Client: Lewiac Pty Ltd
BPDC Staff Involvement: Layout planning since 1988.
Description: The Sovereign Islands is a prestigious large-scale residential development; situated in the Southport Broadwater comprising 6 interconnected islands providing deep-water frontage allotments with uninhibited access to the Gold Coast Seaway.  Created from sand islands and an additional special lease reclamation of 1.4 million cubic metres dredged from surrounding navigation channels, The Sovereign Islands became the first water frontage housing development in Australia to offer wall-to-wall water capable of floating luxury yachts and power boats at all stages of the tide.

Harbour Quays

Project: Harbour Quays
Location: Biggera Waters, Gold Coast, Australia
Client:  Lewiac Pty Limited
BPDC Staff Involvement: Layout planning.
Description:  The Harbour Quays canal development contains 211 residential (including duplex) lots and 13 management lots for future high density dwellings.

Helensvale

Project: Helensvale
Location:  Gold Coast, Australia
Client: Helensvale Estate
BPDC Staff Involvement:  Master planning for the entire estate and micro planning for progressive staged development.
Description: Helensvale is a 10,000 resident master planned community at the northern end of the Gold Coast.  It includes two shopping centres, golf course, schools, retirement village, mixed density housing and community facilities.

Hope Island Resort

Project: Hope Island Resort
Location: Hope Island, Gold Coast, Australia
Client: Shinko Australia Pty Ltd, Walker Corporation Pty Ltd, Mirvac Group, Consolidated Properties/LT Capital
BPDC Staff Involvement: Initial concept planning and micro planning for progressive staged development.
Description: Hope Island Resort is located on the Coomera River upstream of Sanctuary Cove and on 360 hectares of river front land comprising residential canals, commercial centre and marina, 18-hole Thomson Wolveridge designed international golf course, sports centre, international hotel and golf course residences.

Robina

Project: Robina
Location: Gold Coast, Australia
Client:  Lewis Land/ Cambridge Credit Corporation/ Robina Land Corporation
BPDC Staff Involvement: Initial concept and structure plans. Following purchase by Robina Land Corporation master planning; flood mitigation and development strategy re-analysis; planning of a major non-tidal lake system including water quality design and built environment aspects of water frontage use.
Description: One of Australia’s largest privately developed single residential projects on 1850ha to house 60,000 people and incorporating lakes, natural parklands, schools, golf courses, commercial centre’s and a wide variety of quality housing.

Sanctuary Cove

Project: Sanctuary Cove
Location: Hope Island, Gold Coast, Australia
Client: Discovery Bay Developments Pty Ltd
BPDC Staff Involvement:  Initial concept plan.
Description: Sanctuary Cove is Australia’s first and premier integrated resort development of which stage 1 on 220ha comprises 3 harbours, Marine Village, 310 berth floating marina, 18 hole golf course and recreation complex, Hyatt Regency International Hotel, waterfront and golf course villas and other styles of residential development.

The Landings

Project: The Landings
Location: Upper Coomera, Gold Coast, Australia
Client:  Asset1 Pty Ltd
BPDC Staff Involvement: Layout planning, landscape architecture.
Description: The Landings is a 27.8ha, 277 lot residential development and contains 9.22ha of open space, two linear parks, two wetlands with flood mitigation, 7.67ha of environmental reserve, and a 0.65 km bicycle/nature walking track featuring two footbridges.  Rehabilitation of the riparian area of Yaun Creek is a central feature of the project.  Functional areas for recreation and social needs are included while maintaining, where possible, the ecological values and scenic amenity of the development. Best practice water sensitive urban design principles have been incorporated.
